Mark Sommer

Mark Sommer, Host and Executive Producer

Mark Sommer is an award-winning author, journalist, radio host and internationally syndicated columnist who has written several books and hundreds of articles on major international issues for newspapers and magazines around the world. His monthly columns on world affairs are syndicated to 100 countries in several languages by Inter Press Service in Rome. In the United States, his articles have appeared on the editorial pages of The Christian Science Monitor, Chicago Tribune, San Francisco Chronicle, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and NewsdayA World of Possibilities, the program he hosts, highlights innovative solutions to longstanding societal challenges. He is the author of three books, Beyond the Bomb (1986), The Conquest of War (1989), and Living in Freedom (1992). A 1967 graduate of Cornell University, he has served as a consultant to the Compton Foundation on peace and global security issues.

Gregg McVicar

Gregg McVicar, Senior Producer

Gregg McVicar produces our signature program, A World of Possibilities. He is well-known in the field for his innovations in digital audio production. After 35 years in radio, he has numerous national credits to his name, including NPR and PRI and has produced thousands of hours of programming for Native Voice One: The Native American Radio Service. He produced the radio program: Earthsongs (1999-2006) and currently produces Undercurrents (2005 to present). His other credits and projects include: Hearing Voices, Day2Day, Re:sound, Smithsonian, and KPFA. He has received awards from: Peabody, RTNA/SoCal Golden Mic, and NFCB x 4. He is the owner of RadioCamp, LLC, and has an MA from the Annenberg School for Communication. He is also a part-time associate professor at California College of the Arts. His weapons of choice include: Apple, digidesign, WAVES, Neumann, and ADAM.

Matt Fidler

Matt Fidler, Associate Producer

Matt Fidler, audio engineer, composer, and radio producer, has a B.A. in Music with option in Recording Arts from California State University, Chico. Recording his own and other people's music since the age of 14, Matt has honed his skills at audio recording/ editing/mixing, sound design and musical composition for Radio, TV and the Internet. He is currently the Assistant Producer for the 35 hour per week nationally distributed music program Undercurrents, and regularly works on documentary programs Making Contact and A World of Possibilities which air globally.

Naihma Deady

Naihma Deady, Associate Producer

Naihma researches, recruits guests and schedules the interviews for the show. Born and raised in Cholula, Puebla in Mexico, she came to the United States in 2000. From a social activist family background, she understands and is aware of the terrible gaps concerning social justice, education and poverty. When she is not working, she is with her husband, two kids and two dogs. Naihma holds a double BS in Marine Biology and Zoology from Humboldt State University. She also serves as the Hispanic Media Coordinator for our sister project Mainstream Media Project.

Michael Schwartz

Michael Schwartz, Production Engineer

Tofu Mike, as he is known around town, is the Production Engineer for MMP. Starting in 2007, he comes with years of experience in the field of live Sound Reinforcement. He has lived and worked in Humboldt County for more than a decade, as student, tofu maker, forest activist, and at the local recycling center. Music has been an integral part of his life, playing and recording with several different projects. Primarily a percussionist, he also plays guitar and sings, both originals and cover songs. He studied Audio and Radio Production at Humboldt State University.

Robin Pagliuco

Robin Pagliuco, General Office and Educasting Coordinator

Robin Pagliuco was hired in January of 2008 and brings many years of organizational experience to her work at Mainstream Media Project. A former teacher and organizer of large music festivals, Robin currently coordinates the Educasting program and assists the Executive Director.

Stacey Winslow

Stacey Winslow, RadioCamp Studio Manager

Stacey is the Studio Manager for RadioCamp, LLC, where A World of Possibilities is edited and mixed. She also reins in and distributes the team's dynamic production schedule.

Ananda Hazzard

Ananda Hazzard, Financial Director

Ananda Hazzard is the owner of Clear & Concise Bookkeeping, which she established in January 2001. She recently joined MMP and is looking forward to using her more than 30 years of bookkeeping experiences in both non profit and for profit businesses to support the financial needs of our grantors as well as internal financial services. She has and continues to serve on various non-profit boards.

Felix 

Felix Deady, Assistant to the Associate Producer

Felix helps Naihma schedule the guests for interviews, arrange for recordings and set up team meetings. He has been assisting since his birth on August of 2009. In his spare time he likes to sleep, eat, giggle and hang out with his sister, mom and dad.
